Travel information

Advisory
The US State Department rates Colombia Level 3, "Reconsider travel," for crime, terrorism, civil unrest and kidnapping. The rating covers the whole country, including regions this trip does not go near. Medellín and Cartagena are common tourist destinations, and the main risks there are theft and drink spiking. Read the full advisory at travel.state.gov before booking.
Weather
June is rainy in both cities. Rain usually comes in the afternoon and lasts about an hour, so outdoor activities are scheduled in the morning. Cartagena is humid.
